To be honest though, teenager interest are still much more varied than what most media depict. I still suppose I should consider myself lucky for having some friends I can talk about cars with at my school, though.

My brother is now a freshman at the highschool I graduated from, and everyone once in awhile I drive him to school. Now back when I was in highschool there was only 3 people that rode streetbikes or any motorcycles to school for that matter, me, and two of my buddies.
Now there are 3 gixxer 600's (all pretty new) out front so I went to investigate. MASSIVE chicken strips on all three, like HUGE! When I went to pick him up I waited to see who's bikes they were, sure enough three high school kids, no gear at all. I asked them about the bikes and the one with a white 2007 GSXR 600 said he paid over 10k for it. Bullshit you did, it's worth 5k tops buddy.
Kids these days.

When I was in 11th grade I had a similar experience, without the kinjaing. She said it was a "Aston Martin" she did not know the model though...

I have one other person at my school. But I have all of Oppo, so an absence of non car people at my school isn't that bad.

Then you've got my "petrolhead" classmate who announced confidently and obnoxiously in Geography class that the picture we were studying must be in the country, because there was a Land Rover parked on the driveway.
This is not a fucking Land Rover.

That's cool. Can she tell Mustangs apart from other cars at a glance, though?
I occasionally heard students confusing the names and appearances of the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and Charger when I was still in high school a couple of years ago. There was also one girl who asked her parents if she could have a Camaro, but then described the car as being "front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, I don't know".

Who doesn't know what a Mustang is? In high school, I even got a "nice Mustang" from someone. I have a Charger.

Last year there were cool rides all over the senior class lot at the school I teach at. This year there's not so much, though an S60R, a custom painted off road C10, and a 335i are all pretty neat.
